Altesi Paper Lanterns

We were asked to design and make the lanterns for Altesi Ristorante, NYC.
Hand-stitched leather straps hold the paper box lantern under the natural oak canopy.

We made a pair over the breakfast counter...

...and a pair over the bar.

Hand-stitched Railing

20' long hand-stitched English Saddle leather railing.
After it was completed, I went back and clipped the extra linen thread and waxed it a few times.

Jin di Sugi Cypress barn door

9' tall door made using a turn of the century recipe for Jin di Sugi.
The cypress is burnt, and then all of the soft grain is wire brushed away.
Raking northern light hits it almost all day making the grain come alive.

Milk Glass Disc Light

We made a set of these lights based on one I've stared at for years by Edwin Lutyens at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Chalkboard column

I made a chalkboard column for one of my favorite clients.  The chalk holder is a repurposed turn of the century sponge holder, hand-stitched with a green goatskin pouch.

Hand-stitched Box Lights

Hand-stitched flush mount fiberglass light boxes.
They glow beautifully with a soft light.

Hand-tooled Leather Wall

Heavy vegetable-tanned leather,  extra deep tooled letters
The more they wax this wall, the richer the color gets.

Hand-stitched Leather Railings

This is a  hand-stitched leather railing on top of a partition that separates the cafe dining area from the brick oven kitchen.

Blanket-stitch Paper Shades

We make these shades in all shapes and sizes.

Iron & Leather Ballustrade

The hand rail is hand-stitched with English Saddle leather.
Stainless Steel hardware holds the woven leather cord in place.

Round Convex Mirror

We made a series of these hand-stitched convex mirrors, using a old mercury glass convex mirror.
